Plot[]

Odysseus and his soldiers have almost made it home, with their final obstacle seeming to be a raging storm that appeared shortly after they left the Island of the Cyclopes. As Odysseus tries to guide his men through the storm, two soldiers spot a floating island in the sky. Odysseus, knowing the island must be Aeolia, the home of the God of Wind, has the crew throw harpoons at the island, with the island acting as a reverse anchor. With his fleet temporarily safe from the storm, Odysseus intends to climb to so he can ask the Wind God to aid them on their journey through the storm.

Upon revealing this plan to Eurylochus, he argues that seeking help from a god is dangerous. He believes that Odysseus is going to get them all killed with his risky plans. After assuring to his crew that this plan is sound, Odysseus pulls Eurylochus aside and commands him to stop sowing seeds of doubt and comply with his plans or everyone will get killed.

Odysseus seeks the help of Aeolus who offers him a game, if Odysseus can keep a bag filled with wind spirits closed then he will find what he seeks. While this seemed an easy task, Aeolus' Winions plant rumors among Odysseus' men that the bag contained treasure, much to Odysseus' dismay. Consumed by worry and paranoia, Odysseus forces himself to stay awake for nine days straight in order to guard the bag. One of the soldiers, tempted by the possibility of riches, waits until Odysseus passes out from exhaustion then opens the bag. The bag releases the storm once more, blowing the fleet far across the sea towards Lamos, the land of cannibalistic giants called Laestrygonians. With the help of Eurylochus, Odysseus is able to shut the bag before all the wind spirits escape. As they land in Lamos, a booming voice calls for Odysseus asking if he knows who he is.

The fleet suddenly finds themselves face-to-face with Poseidon himself, who is furious with Odysseus for blinding Polyphemus, who turned out to be Poseidon's son. Poseidon tells Odysseus that he could've been spared from the ocean's wrath if he was ruthless and finished the job. Instead, he let Polyphemus live and revealed his true name, allowing the cyclops to tell his father about the man who blinded him. The vengeful Sea God then instructs Odysseus to apologize for what he did in order for him to be spared. Odysseus tries to explain his logic for hurting Polyphemus and stated that he and his men took no pleasure in injuring his son. Not accepting this response as an apology, Poseidon starts a tsunami and has the Laestrygonians throw boulders at Odysseus' ships, destroying all but one of Odysseus' ships and killing almost all of his crew. Odysseus, left with only 43 soldiers, decides to use the remnants of the storm inside the bag to escape the further wrath of Poseidon.

Trivia[]

  • The release date commemorates the 1 year anniversary of the original Troy Saga's release date.
  • This was the first Saga to be released under Jorge's company, Winion Entertainment LLC.
  • On the cover, you can see Aeolus’ home island, Aeolia, floating in the sky.
    • In the Odyssey, Aeolia is a floating island, which means an island that is not connected to the seafloor, surrounded by walls.
      • Jorge misinterpreted the term "floating island" to mean a literal island in the sky, which is why the version of Aeolia in EPIC is the way that it is.
