Plot[]

Odysseus, still trapped on Ogygia, is approached by Calypso. With great sadness, she tells him that he is being released from her island. She confesses her love for Odysseus, explaining how she spent her whole life alone on the island and Odysseus was the closest thing she had to company in centuries. As Odysseus leaves, he tells Calypso that, in a way, he did love her but not romantically. Deeply upset with this response, Calypso can do nothing but watch as Odysseus resumes his journey back to Ithaca after seven years.

After a bit, Odysseus begins to wonder how he'll possibly get home on his own with nothing but his handmade raft. This question is answered by Hermes, who has appeared to offer Odysseus guidance and keep him company. The trickster god explains that the journey home will be very dangerous and that he can not stop no matter what kind of monsters may attempt to prevent him from reaching his destination. Before Hermes leaves, he gives Odysseus Aeolus' Wind Bag, so he can avoid Poseidon's Storm as long as he leaves it closed.

Shortly after Hermes leaves, Charybdis, a massive sea monster, appears before Odysseus, threatening to destroy his raft. The two face off in a battle of endurance, with Charybdis opening her mouth, creating a massive whirlpool, and Odysseus knocking off pieces of his raft so Charybdis swallows them and chokes on the logs. Eventually, Charybdis falters and spits out Odysseus' raft. At last, Odysseus sees Ithaca in the distance and he realizes that his journey is almost over. Unfortunately, Odysseus' raft suddenly begins to drift away from Ithaca and he realizes in horror what that means. He has found him...

Poseidon appears before him, ten years after the sea god drowned most of Odysseus' fleet in an act of vengeance for his son. Poseidon offers Odysseus a choice, die by his hands or let Ithaca drown. In a last-ditch effort to allow his kingdom to be spared by the sea gods wrath, Odysseus asks Poseidon to let the past be the past and forgive him for blinding Polyphemus. Abiding by his ruthless nature, Poseidon refuses to accept the apology and uses his ultimate move on Odysseus, Shatter The Ocean. Odysseus' raft is destroyed and, as he is dragged to the bottom of the ocean, he hears the voices of everybody he has lost along the way and seemingly drowns.

Suddenly, Odysseus, having somehow transcended his own mortality, awakens into the monster, ready to end this decade long battle. He grabs Aeolus' Wind Bag, ties it to his back, and releases the storm. Odysseus shoots out of the water with the Wind Bag acting as, for lack of a better term, a jetpack. Odysseus and Poseidon engage in an EPIC battle, with Odysseus ending the fight by striking the Sea God with his own ultimate move, Six Hundred Strike, and with the strength of his fallen comrades. After landing on a nearby rock, Poseidon mocks Odysseus, saying Odysseus will never make it home now that he’s released the storm. Upon this, Odysseus decides to show Poseidon the monster that he created all those years ago. Picking up his opponent's trident, Odysseus begins to stab Poseidon with his own weapon over, and over, and over again, abusing his immortality to torture him. Odysseus doesn't stop until Poseidon calls off the storm, finally allowing the King of Ithaca to return home...

Trivia[]

  • The release of this saga falls on Halloween, which is fitting due to this saga having a much darker tone than the rest of the Sagas.
  • This is the shortest Saga in Act 2.
