“Food? Food!”
-Winions ("Open Arms")
The Winions are a group of small, troublemaking creatures who make multiple appearances in the show.
Act 1[]
The Winions first appear in Open Arms, when Odysseus and Polites are looking for food to feed the army. While initially appearing to be hostile to the two visitors, they do not attack when Odysseus threatens them, instead offering them fruits on their island, which Polites takes as proof of the effectiveness of his approach to life. However, Odysseus notices that the fruits are glowing lotus fruits that control minds (represented by the official animatics showing this group of Winions with glowing eyes the colour of the lotus fruit). Polites then asks them for other places to find food, and the Winions direct Odysseus and his men to the island of Polyphemus.
The Winions make another appearance alongside Aeolus in Keep Your Friends Close. In the song, they act as Aeolus' companions and carry the wind bag back with Odysseus onto the ship. Out of mischief, they misinform Odysseus' men that Aeolus' bag contains treasure before vanishing, tricking the men into opening it and releasing the spirits of the storm.
Act 2[]
The Winions appear alongside Hermes in the song Dangerous. In the song, they give Odysseus Aeolus' wind bag, once again containing the spirit of Poseidon’s storm. They, along with Hermes, warn Odysseus not to open the bag.

Trivia[]
- In Greek mythology, Aeolus ruled over both the gentle and storm winds, the latter of which had to be kept under control. The Winions (wind + minions) could represent the wind god's subjects, being both sweet but also dangerous, and able to travel great distances (given their presence on multiple islands).
- A special Winion that appeared in the official animatic for Dangerous, named the Princess Winion for her unique design, was voiced by Jay's sister, Diana Rivera-Herrans.
- Regarding that same song, Jay confirmed that those winions, along with Hermes, found the original wind bag Aeolus gave to Odysseus, using it to trap Poseidon's storm.
